United Way supports working families through free tax prep

Don't like paying to file your taxes? Us, either.

Through a partnership between United Way and H&R Block, you may not have to! Individuals or households earning less than $66,000 a year can file federal and state tax returns completely FREE through

MyFreeTaxes uses industry-leading filing software through H&R Block, ensuring that tax returns are 100 percent accurate. Just upload a picture of your W-2 and the software will automatically fill in your information and check for refund and specific tax credit eligibility. Most filers complete their returns in under an hour.

The program is available from your computer, tablet or smartphone and offers support in English and Spanish.

Having trouble filing online?

The MyFreeTaxes helpline is available from January 22 through April 30, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and between noon and 9 p.m. on Saturdays.

Filers who prefer in-person tax preparation services can instead visit a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. Just dial 2-1-1 and ask about free tax prep services in your area.
